Skiing in Italy is an excellent and pretty recommendable pursuit. Admittedly the ski resorts here are not as well-known as those in Switzerland and Austria, but they have an attraction of their own. Skiing in Italy is distinct to be a memorable experience.

Skiing in Italy is occasionally like skiing in two different countries. German is famous in the South Tyrol, and French in the Aosta Valley. Regional languages and cultures differ along with food and wine. However, a constant factor is the Italians’ inborn kindness and affability and their relaxed attitude toward life and the world. This valley presents a numeral vigorous ski resorts, including Bardonecchia, Sauze d’Oulx and the trendy, modern Sestriere with elevation of 2035 m. Sestriere offers an ice rink, cross-country trails and 20 ski lifts.

Bus service is accessible from Sestriere to Turin. To the north you will find the Aosta Valley, which has a separate nature and identity. You will be fascinated by the thick pine woods, wooden lodges and historical castles. Grand mountains like Gran Paradiso, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa tower over the area. The top-end, glamorous ski resort of Courmayeur is situated here. It offers ice skating, ski lifts and cable cars; helicopter skiing, cross-country skiing and tons of downhill runs. On this place skiing is possible all over the year. The resort snuggles at the foot of the stunning Mont Blanc.

One finer destination in the area is Limone. At Limone, you will find an actual taste of old Italy. The nightlife has a set to offer, and the epicure food is out of this world! Food and skiing are everything here – with in excess of fifty restaurants, and 46 ski runs. The top elevation is 6689 with a vertical drop of 3033 feet. There are twenty seven lifts, including seven chair lifts and twenty surface lifts.

Remember that the village is very old. If you desire high technology and modern buildings, Limone most likely isn’t for you. But if you want to really experience Italy, Limone must be on your list of places to visit in Italy. Above is my memorable picture during ground handling in Para Gliding Course, held near Khanpur Dam, by Pakistan Army Physical Training (ASPT) School in 2010.

After a long wait finally got some time to share these pictures here, the story is too long, but to cut it short, this is one of the amazing experience of my life and I will be gliding more and more in coming years and will remember that this is where my Gliding begins.

I have tried to place different pictures here as memories of the course (sorry unable to put pictures of  all), but these pictures can not describe the actual experience gain and fun we have during the course, I am really thankful to all the training staff, mess staff, course mates and specially to Captain Bukhari on organizing such course and giving us a life time experience.
